NIPES Scholarship Overview

• Total Scholarship Amount: ₦1,000,000
• Number of Awards: 5
• Amount per Recipient: ₦200,000
• Duration: One academic year

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Enrollment: Currently enrolled in an accredited higher institution in Nigeria.
• Field of Study: Pursuing a degree in science or engineering-related courses.
• Academic Level: Open to students from 100-level and above.
• NIPES Online Course: Completion of at least one free NIPES online course is mandatory. Applicants must detail the skills acquired from this course in their personal statement.

Priority Consideration

While all eligible students are encouraged to apply, priority will be given to NIPES student members. Non-members are advised to join NIPES to enhance their chances of selection.

Application Process

The application process comprises three stages:

1. NIPES Membership Registration: Register as a student member on the NIPES website.
2. Completion of a Free NIPES Online Course: Enroll in and complete a free online course offered by NIPES here.
3. Submission of Personal Statement:

• Write a personal statement (500-750 words) explaining the skills learned from the completed NIPES course and how they apply to your academic or career goals here.
• Provide proof of enrollment and a valid student ID.
• Include your NIPES membership number (if applicable).

Personal Statement Guidelines

Your personal statement should encompass:

• Background and Educational Journey: Outline your academic history and experiences.
• Passion for Engineering/Science: Describe your interest and commitment to your chosen field.
• Achievements: Highlight academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
• Challenges Overcome: Discuss any obstacles faced and how you addressed them.
• Career Goals: Explain your future aspirations and how they align with NIPES’s mission.
• Skills from NIPES Course: Detail the competencies gained from the NIPES online course and their relevance to your development.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

• NIPES Student Membership Status
• Quality and Content of the Personal Statement
• Demonstrated Passion for Engineering/Science
• Completion of a NIPES Course and Explanation of Learned Skills
• Alignment with NIPES Values and Mission

Important Dates

• Application Opens: October 15, 2024
• Application Deadline: January 31, 2025
• Final Selection Announcement: February 10, 2025

Additional Information

• Successful applicants will be expected to participate in NIPES events and mentorship programs.
• The scholarship is a one-time award for the academic year 2024/2025.
